Zoe Hession is a Cheshire based calligrapher & painter, and is the face behind Artisan Calligraphy.

Originally from London, Zoe was born with a condition called Arthrogryposis, which results in her having stiff, curved joints. Due to her hands being naturally fused shut at birth, doctors believed that she would never be able to use them at all. This prognosis has fueled a life-long desire to redefine what is possible and turn this shortcoming into her strongest skill.

Having to take extra time to practice holding a pencil, pen, or paint brush has made her appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into making beautiful art, calligraphy, or architecture that is seen around us. These interests have inspired her to create her own ornate art style which heavily relies on having a steady hand. She is currently focusing on painting acrylic animal portraits using patterns and decorations to emphasise the movement in fur or the forms that make up the many components of a face.

She also takes great joy in calligraphy, and has worked with a number of couples to create wedding invitations, table place cards, signs, and framed quotes/poems.
